However, if you supply a tailored product or service, visiting the customer optimises the chance of a successful on-going relationship.
NOCKERS ENGINEERING PRODUCTS primarily supplies customers who are manufacturers, with wire or wire products that they use to produce other diverse items, for example springs, cables, heating elements or equipment components.
The wire we supply has a unique specification for each application which governs the material, size, tolerances and mechanical or electrical characteristics.
Whilst the specification should be able to be supplied by the customer, this is often not available beyond a basic description. The customer just wants a wire that “works” the same or better than they are currently using, and preferably at a lower cost.
In this case, a visit to the customer is essential – either to the Buyer if they are knowledgeable about the wire’s use, or the Production or Quality Managers depending on the mature of the operation.
In the latter cases, particularly in the factory environment, one is able to ascertain exactly how the wire is used and what are its most important characteristics for the user.
Often the factory personnel are unaware of supply options, as their currently supplied material has remained as originally supplied, whereas their process may have been changed or their machinery upgraded over the years.
