VinEco Trellising Wire
Agricultural practices today strive to be Sustainable, Environmentally Neutral and Economically Viable.
Grape Production is no different and many new materials and techniques are being implemented to achieve these aims.
Human and environmental health in foodstuff production is of particular importance in Europe, and as a small part of these endeavours, VinEco trellising wire was born.
VinEco trellising wire offers numerous advantages to the grape production industry, along with a single disadvantage, as outlined below:
Advantages:
- With traditional galvanized wire, the zinc coating deteriorates over time with surface rust formation.
- The zinc coating is porous allowing the accumulation of organic matter that attracts moulds, algae, and fungal growth.
- VinEco trellising wire has an homogenous smooth and bright non-corroding finish that inhibits undesirable surface build-up.
- VinEco trellising wire has a smaller diameter than traditional galvanized wire for the same tensile strength, resulting in 3.5 times greater length per kilogram of wire.
- VinEco trellising wire is 25% cheaper per metre length than traditional galvanized wire.
- VinEco trellising wire is packaged on a plastic spool containing 15kg / 500m of wire rather than in a heavier coil, allowing ease of use and no waste due to careless handling.
- VinEco trellising wire has a residual value when eventually scrapped of at least 25% of cost, whereas galvanized wire has negligible scrap value.
- VinEco trellising wire can be marketed as part of an overall best environmental health strategy.
Disadvantages:
- Resistance to change from established practice.
